ArtWorks North East

Funding: £247,016

Who: ArtWorks North East is led by the University of Sunderland working with Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Equal Arts, Helix Arts, Live Theatre, National Glass Centre, New Writing North, Northern Stage, the Regional Youth Work Unit, Sage Gateshead and Tyneside Cinema

What: The programme takes an enquiry-based research approach building on strong existing networks in the North East. It has an emphasis on employability and progression, with the pathfinder working closely with trainers, employers and careers advisory services. An audit to reflect best practice has been carried out to document common strengths in existing provision, identify areas of development and inform the future creation of progression routes in different settings (youth, community, health, social care). The pathfinder has brought together specialists from different art forms with academics and practitioners from both the arts and social sectors, to develop accredited flexible or modular courses, careers seminars, jointly authored research and the production of a range of learning materials.
